Myra is an African American artist, advocate, and lived-expert leader whose life journey has been shaped by experiences with homelessness, mental health challenges, substance use, and profound personal loss. She channels these experiences into creative expression, using painting, sewing, writing, and clay as tools for healing, empowerment, and connection. A part of Elevated Denver since its earliest days, Myra has shared her story, served as a Peer Producer on the podcast, a Peer Researcher for the Community Landscape, a board member, and a trusted collaborator across the organization’s work. She volunteers her lived expertise to uplift voices too often unheard, advocating through boards, panels, and peer roles for those navigating similar struggles. Myra strives to inspire people of all backgrounds, especially people of color and those on recovery journeys, to believe that growth, healing, and forward movement are always possible.
